Supply Chain Program Manager – New Product Launch (NPL) – Hospira – Lake County, IL, USA

The role of this critical new hire is to support the launches for new products; including biosimilars from a supply chain perspective. This candidate will be charged with the detailing of requirements in capacity, cold storage, planning requirements and overall synchronizing of analysis to concise communication.
He/she will be responsible for supporting the build and roll out of validated shipment routes for distribution throughout the value stream while accounting for quality, customs, legal and compliance consideration.
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
The Supply Chain Program Manager, New Product Launch supports the Supply Chain design, and is accountable for biosimilar products meeting 99+% customer service levels by overseeing commodity and production planning, managing safety stock inventories, and ensuring cold chain shipments delivered to the customers are secure and meet quality specifications. He/she must have proven skills to manage cross-functional teams and communicate metrics to senior leadership; and will have direct impact to the successful management of product portfolios with sales exceeding $1 billion.

Supply Chain support for New Products supply chain design – understand global requirements to develop new routes, improving on traditional networks, to comply with changing regional IP constraints and maximize tax benefits; ensure routes are validated and transportation mode and packaging are sufficient to prevent regulatory delays or excursions; implement backup strategies and potential redundancies to ensure product supply.

Accountable for new SIP products, including biosimilars, meeting 98+% customer service levels – oversee commodity and production planning; manage safety stock inventories; ensure cold chain shipments delivered to the customers are secure and meet quality specifications; communicate effectively to provide status updates and metrics to senior leadership.

Support best in class distribution for product supply – minimize product risks (temperature conditions / mode of transportation / IP considerations / product security)

Align supply chain product supply strategy to support global commercialization while satisfying regional quality and regulatory requirements.

Work with corporate procurement and manufacturing sites in sourcing and ensuring continuity of supply of commodities to support manufacturing.

Understand commercial forecast sensitivities and evaluate capacity requirements for suppliers and internal manufacturing as well as external contract manufacturing organizations (CMOs).

Support NPL launch process for supply chain activities – lead cross-functional teams effectively to ensure successful launches; assist in defining processes and procedures to standardize global launches; ensure supply planning minimizes E&O risk while meeting commercial requirements and managing manufacturing challenges.

Assisting in defining and executing supply chain design and product distribution.

Develop product initial supply strategy to support commercialization while minimizing E&O exposure and managing manufacturing challenges.

This role works at our North Suburban Chicago/Lake Forest, IL location.
Skills/Experience Education/Certification
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations Engineering or related field required.

Well developed supply chain planning and logistics management skills.
•
APICS certification preferred.
•
Demonstrated capability to lead project teams/meetings and drive continuous improvement programs.
•
Experience in the biologics space with understanding of the supply chain from sourcing of drug substance through manufacturing of drug product, include cold chain management, inventory planning, etc.
•
Highly analytical and a power user of Excel (pivot tables, V-Look-ups).
•
Ability to consolidate and summarize data quickly and effectively; prioritize a busy work load and be capable of understanding and explaining complicated plant capacity issues and processes.

Comfortable presenting to and interacting with senior management.
