Packaging Engineer – Equity Packaging – Raritan, NJ, USA
Packaging Engineer / Package Development Engineer: This position is for a Packaging Engineer , within the Medical Device Business Unit, with a strong focus on API (Active Pharma Ingredients), bulk, WIP, and finished goods that require temperature control (thermal protection) during shipping .
The candidate will a ssess distribution testing (physical protection) requirements and also a ssess current shipping solutions available to leverage .
The candidate will facilitate the proce ss for shipping qualifications and p rovide package design to meet product and logistical requirements ; candidate will also manage shipping container qualification studies (thermal and physical); manage contract/outsourced lab activities .
The successful candidate will work within the organization o r contract manufacturers/packagers (quality assurance, R&D, manufacturing/packaging/distribution sites, transportation/logistics, new product leaders, etc.) to define and document project scope as well as work with suppliers to identify shipping solutions and execute testing and provide p ackaging engineering support .
Extensive and proven expertise in successfully designing, develop ing , test ing and releas ing temperature sensitive package configurations. Knowledge of various environmental and regulatory requirements as it relates to package design and testing of Medical Device and API products . Experience managing/participating in projects using cross functional teams, ensuring c ompletion on time and on budget with high quality results. Ability to mentor, teach, train and pass on knowledge / information to other professionals.
SKILLS REQUIRED :
Thorough knowledge of Cold Chain, Insulated Shippers, Phase Change Materials, and Temperature Monitors as they relate to Medical Device Packaging . Solid communication skills, both written and verbal, to global partners with different cultural backgrounds and communication styles. Ab ility to navigate internal processes and overcome barriers to effectively implement new materials or processes. Ability to define innovative packaging opportunities and influence their application within the BU.
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATION, TRAINING : BS/MS/PhD in the area of Packaging, Package Engineering, Packaging Science, or a related field. At least 5 + years of experience Influence – A person of influence who is able to effectively communicate and respect other’s POV while also influencing them to see his/her own POV Sound knowledge of packaging materials and processes commonly used in temperature sensitive packaging within the pharmaceutical and medical device industry.
