We are seeking an experienced Operations Transportation Manager to join our growing team.
Responsible for the process and control of collections and deliveries through effective use of Marken drivers and subcontractors. Ensure all shipments are recovered and delivered in good time to meet the expected schedules.
Duties and Responsibilities
Reporting to the Regional Operations Director, this person will be responsible for successfully managing the Operations function for the Chicago facility.
Develop excellent working relationship with external suppliers and periodic review of rates structures.
Provide support and assistance when dealing with special requirements
Produce reports, which detail any issues within the Marken network
Arranging resources for the receipt and inward processing off all shipments.
Completion of shipment release paperwork.
Dispatch drivers managing work and shift schedules and minimize the use of Sub-contractors with focus being on profit maximization for Marken.
Oversee drivers,imports and exports whilst monitoring quality, overtime, disciplinary functions.
To maintain all company owned vehicles in line with Marken’s policies/standard operating procedures including, but not limited to, all servicing activities, maintenance logs etc.
Oversee all warehouse activities to ensure that all areas are, where applicable, GDP & TSA compliant, and passable in an internal/external audit environment.
Control and manage packaging resource, such as ensure stock logs are current and thus ensuring all costs are captured and billed accordingly.
Actively participate in all cold chain operations related to the branch
Attend and contribute to branch meetings as required.
Manage all departmental resources and reports.
Experience in the courier or freight industry required
Three to five years of experience in Logistics/Transportation, particularly in the Courier and Air/Ground delivery industries.
Knowledge of Life Sciences and temperature controlled shipments highly desired.
Good working knowledge of Word/Excel
Ability to adapt and deal with day to day enquiries and issues
Experience managing people and resources and able to make decisions on the spot
