Logistics Specialist – Thermo Fisher Scientific – Carlsbad, CA, USA

The successful candidate must be capable of working independently as well as part of a cross-functional team, and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. This position requires attention to detail, sound analytic skills, and the ability to organize priorities in a high volume, high visibility, fluid and demanding environment. The Logistics Specialist will be tasked to support a number of transportation logistics related functions including trend analysis of the Performance Index Reports, proper coding and resolution of freight payment invoices, tracking and tracing, filing claims, coordination of activities with internal or external customers, field sales/distribution/carriers and maintenance and/or development of monthly reports on key performance indicators.
Minimum Qualifications (must have)
4-6 years experience in logistics and transportation. Proven experience in both domestic and international transportation for all modes of transport (Ocean, Air, Ground, Multimode). Self motivated individual that can work on their own to drive results. Posesses the business acumen to make cost effective decision. Effectively conduct spot quote RFQ’s to meet time and cost targets for both internal and external customers. Has the ability to work crossfuntionally and lead projects effectively to meet completion dates. Bachelors degree in tranportation, logistics, distribution, supplychain, procurement, or equivalent work experience. Strong Excel skills, working knowledge of MS Outlook, MS Power Point and MS Access. Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP, E1, Oracle.
Preferred Qualifications (nice to have)
Process improvement training (Leam 6 Sigma, Practical Process Improvement (PPI). Has good knowledge of HAZMAT regulatory shipping requirements as well as cold chain shipping. Working knwledge of the NMFC and import export regualtory requirements.
