Logistics Analyst – Baxalta – Westlake Village, CA, USA

This position is based in Illinois (US) and reports to the Manager I Logistics Operations / Westlake Village, CA. The person will be responsible for transitioning the Oncaspar business to Baxalta, develop logistics models for international and domestic shipments, and manage the execution of product flow for ongoing supply continuity.
This position will also liaise (dotted line) with the Baxalta North America Supply Chain Logistics Manager and team to control the high volume order throughput in a Midwest site that will be a 3
party relationship. A key element of the logistics function is to know and manage compliant cold chain transport solutions in a complex and high-regulated environment (cGMP, regulatory, trade compliance, costs, etc.).
More specifically, this position is responsible to coordinate the end-to-end transport activities, working closely with Baxalta supply chain teams such as manufacturing sites, warehouses, distribution quality / cold chain validation team, 3
party locations, as well as Baxalta affiliates and/or distributors globally.
Responsible for assessing the destination ship-to country regulations and how it pertains to preparing export documentation: Commercial Invoice, Packing List, SLI, Certificate of Origin, Letter of Credit, Import Permits, Incoterms, etc. Primary export destinations are Canada and Puerto Rico
Close working relationship with Baxalta trade compliance group for policies, procedures, and SOP guidelines
Maintaining a key role with manufacturing / shipping facility:
Production planning / S&OP
Coordinating shipments with facility (Baxalta or 3 party) and the freight forwarder
Domestic
International
Meet all project ship / delivery request dates
Detailed follow up to open issues, supplier performance, contingency planning
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Trade compliance knowledge pertaining to US Customs export and import laws and regulations as well as foreign import requirements
Full understanding of transportation in relation to cold chain and cGMPs / GDP compliance
Work with systems (C3ME, B4One, and Trax) to prepare and create export documentation
Know and manage freight forwarder networks, cost containment, and schedule transportation
Know and manage cold chain solutions, both passive and active
Strong knowledge of Incoterms
Perform under tight deadlines with the ability to execute official documents with complete accuracy
Customer focused both to internal and external customers
Analyze distribution models and freight forwarder lanes for cost optimization / cost reduction
Maintain and manage freight forwarder performance
Qualifications
Bachelor of Science degree in Logistics, Supply Chain, Operations, Transportation, or International Trade Compliance preferred
2 to 4 years related experience preferred
Ability to operate in a complex, international matrix environment
Good teamwork skills, ability to problem solve, and have strong analytical skills
Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks with short deliverable time frame
Project management skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
