Logisitcs Specialist – Genentech – South San Francisco, CA, USA

Inthis unique position, Logistics Specialists are responsible for the executionof material logistics in a cGMP environment. This includes receiving, sampling,storage, issuance, distribution of materials/product and transfer. Handling andshipping of hazardous materials as required. Additional responsibilitiesinclude performing data entry into various databases, safely utilizing materialhandling equipment, driving company vehicles, adhering to cGMP procedures,ensuring department regulatory compliance, maintaining a clean and safeworkplace.
Job Responsibilities
Logistics Specialists perform the following activities and worksunder limited supervision. General instructions or direction required onroutine work, and more detailed instructions given on new lines of work orspecial assignments.
Safely operate material handling equipment which includes; motorized and manual pallet jacks, and forklifts to move and store material
Strictly complying with procedures; perform aseptic and general sampling of raw materials in a clean-room environment, wearing PPE and using various measuring devices: carefully following instructions for hazardous raw materials
Processing international shipments including documentation and packaging of materials
Receipt and dispensing of finished goods and WIP inventory from Manufacturing Facilities.
Pick, pack, and ship commercial product/ clinical bulk to Domestic and International destinations.
Transferring drug products to CMO’s and Distribution Centers (GPS knowledge required for DC transfers.)
Coordinating and scheduling product destruction with destruction site.
Processing rejected, returned or expired drug products for destruction.
Perform physical counts of material and product
Compute quantities and unit of measure conversions
Verify manufacturer and Genentech labels and other documentation against material
Access various databases and input data with a high level of accuracy
Maintain a safe and clean work environment
Accurately pull and issue material in support of Manufacturing, Quality, and R&D needs
Perform environmental checks, record creation, record collection, and record storage
Use of proper PPE for the handling of hazardous materials
Participate on department related projects that may include investigating, analyzing, formulating possible solutions, documenting processes and communicating results
Maintain required training and qualifications
Attend cGMP, safety and on-the-job training as required
Adhere to all cGMP’s, Genentech Policies and SOP’s
Adhere to all safety guidelines and procedures
Use all business computer systems and tools properly
Research and resolve moderately difficult inventory issues within the ERP system
Provide training and guidance to junior technicians when applicable
Suggest quality, safety, and efficiency improvements
Other duties may be assigned.
Who You Are
JobRequirements
Education and Experience
BA or BS with concentration in Life or Physical sciences preferred. May substitute with extensive inventory management or Bio/Pharma industry experience
Experience in computer-based systems and use in a validated environment preferred
Prior training in chemicals handling and good laboratory methods/practices preferred
Knowledge, skills and abilities
Valid driver license, clean DMV record and ability to obtain Class B license if required
Class B license required for drivers of company vehicles meeting Department of Transportation requirements
Thorough understanding of metric system and good basic mathematical skills
Proficiency with PC/Mac desktop applications and business operations software systems
Strong organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to work in a highly cooperative team environment
Successful completion of all TSA requirements
Ability to successfully complete the CCSP (Certified Cargo Screening Program) certification if required
Solid knowledge of the ERP system and ability to resolve moderately difficult issues
WorkEnvironment/Physical Demands/Safety Considerations
Ability to work overtime and adjust working schedule beyond normal 8am-5pm 8×5 work week to support 24×7 operations
Must be able to work in cold chain environment as required
Must be able to lift >50 lbs, push/pull >100 pounds of force
Standing or sitting is required for extended periods of time
Must be able to climb stairs and walk for extended periods of time
Ability to perform computer work with heavy mouse or RF equipment use
Environment requires safety glasses, gowning, gloves and steel toe boots
