GENERAL
SUMMARY & OVERALL CHALLENGES
The Transportation Manager, Americas will have operations responsibility for
all inbound and outbound freight moves for the Americas regions (predominantly
USA, Canada with additional ownership for high growth markets in South
America). This leadership position will be accountable for driving continuous
improvements in cost, service and quality year over year.
We
ship a diverse range of Medical / Pharma type products internationally. Ideally
the candidate will have proven experience in handling dangerous goods
and cold chain shipments across ocean, air, truck and small pack global freight
modes.
The Transportation Manager will be a key member of our Global Supply Chain
team. This position is considered a growth role within the organization with potential
for expanded leadership opportunities. The candidate must have experience
developing and managing direct reports. They will be comfortable networking
with internal and external stakeholders and partners. They should also be an excellent
analyst and capable of taking complex data sets and distilling it into
actionable information.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Carrier performance management including
reporting and review processes to improve quality of service, cost and delivery
performance year over year
Budget annual spends, manage to monthly
forecasts, report variances.
Develop annual freight productivity funnel,
manage project execution, develop action plans to meet performance objectives
Monitor, manage, and communicate in real time all
transportation issues through to final delivery/hand off point to stakeholders
Manage freight bill audit and pay processes
Partner with Danaher corporate freight team to
leverage global spend and roll out corporate initiatives. Negotiate rates or
services where needed or where established agreements do not exist
Document all network, standard operating
procedures, and transportation supplier agreements
Manage direct reports through annual review
process, setting goals and objectives and developing talent through their
organization
Qualifications
REQUIRED
SKILLS / QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree required
preferably in Operations Management or Supply Chain or related discipline.
5+ years of progressive
experience in a freight and transportation with specific focus on logistics of
domestic and international for all modes of transport.
3-5 years of experience with
hazardous goods shipping regulations
Strong analytical skillset
(expert Excel skills)
Excellent
verbal and written communication, project management, and organization skills.
Strong
financial and business acumen.
Excellent intrapersonal /
communication skills and ability to effectively manage internal and external
business partners to drive successful outcomes.
