EHS Specialist – Thermo Fisher Scientific – Carlsbad, CA, USA

Lead projects across sites globally that deliver productivity, cost savings and business value. Provide packaging and labeling design expertise aligned with business objectives.
Essential Functions
-Drive Continuous Improvement to improve costs, quality, and service
-Lead initiatives that deliver to energy, water, waste, packaging reduction targets
-Analyze spend and evaluate opportunities for productivity initiatives
–Perform financial validations and justifications for productivity projects
-Utilize Practical Process Improvement (PPI) –internal company continuous improvement methodology to execute on projects
-Work with EHS, Facilities, Manufacturing and global green committees to execute projects across multiple sites
-Research opportunities for external partnerships and certifications that align with company sustainability goals
– Manage labeling and packaging design projects for Life Sciences Solution Group products that include sensitive Electro-Mechanical instruments and Life Sciences Consumables.
– Support of Distribution/ Cold -Chain Packaging development and qualification
– Update existing product packaging and labeling specifications, documentation standards, procedures, processes and systems, testing protocols and development guidelines
-Create and implement packaging protocols (IQ, OQ,&PQ/PV) in accordance with internal procedures and industry guidelines
-May be required to perform other related duties as required and/or assigned

Education Requirements
-B.S. in a technical discipline e.g. Industrial or Mechanical Engineering
-Familiarity with Lean/Six-Sigma concepts
-Project management, Finance and Lean Six Sigma training is preferred.
Experience Requirements
-Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience including the implementation of Global Energy/Sustainability/Packaging projects preferred.
-Demonstrated project success through past experience and education.
-Demonstrated proficiency with computer applications including word processing spreadsheet and powerpoint presentations required.

Working Conditions
Many duties are performed while sitting at a desk or conference room, (e.g., operating a computer, using a telephone, or writing and analyzing data and/or reports, attending meetings). In addition, walking or standing within the office area is required for conducting site evaluations, equipment reviews, process observations etc. May require 5-15% travel
