Buyer/Planner – Cold Chain Technologies, Inc. – Holliston, MA, USA

The Buyer/Planner is responsible to manage both the purchasing and production planning requirements of a product line, or product lines, and selected items or a family of items. The position is responsible for ensuring that the demand for purchased items are met in a timely and cost-effective manner, that the stocking levels are maintained within established guidelines, and that the development and implementation of production and manufacturing schedules meet customer requirements and maintain proper inventory levels. The position has significant interaction with Engineering, Customer Service, Production and Quality Assurance.
Primary Responsibilities:
Procure standard product materials while meeting quality, delivery and cost requirements.
Plan purchasing and production activity through the use of advanced ERP techniques and Lean Manufacturing methods.
Maintain appropriate inventory levels of raw materials, sub-assemblies and finished goods to meet production demands and desired service levels.
Maintain a strong working relationship with the supplier base. Communicate issues in a timely fashion.
Participate in supplier selection and on-going supplier evaluation on a regular basis.
Manage Purchase Price Variance (PPV) to standard costs.
Drive continual improvement in supplier-base quality, material costs, inventory turns and delivery performance.
Qualifications and Requirements:
BA, BS or AS Degree in a discipline relevant to Materials Management or Operations
5 to 8 years of applicable experience in planning, purchasing and/or materials management
Significant working experience with a computerized, top-tier ERP system
Working knowledge of ISO-9001, six sigma and Lean manufacturing principles
Excellent communication and negotiation skills
Significant experience with MS Office and database software applications
Ability to lift 25 pounds on occasion
Occasional travel required
