Associate Director, Demand and Supply Planner – Medivation, Inc. – San Francisco, CA, USA

The Associate Director of Supply Chain Planning will lead Medivation’s planning activities related to clinical, launch, and commercial supplies. Actively oversees the Planning team to ensure the accurate and continuous supply while minimizing E&O. Oversees and reviews s supply plans and inventory reports for accuracy and communicates to PharmOps and stakeholder senior management. Works within the Supply Chain organization as well as cross functionally with peers to establish and maintain consistent practices what enable a robust and efficient supply-chain. Has a working knowledge of supply/demand planning best practices, MRP/ ERP systems, as well as experience working within a cGMP environment. Provides strategic direction within Pharmaceutical Operations for Planning activities and play a key in role launch readiness. Mentors and coaches direct reports.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Provide managerial support to one or more employees with overall responsibility of leading, training, and mentoring for effective performance
Primary backup for Director of Supply Chain with decision authority in the Director’s absence
Work with Clinical Operations and others to understand clinical demand requirements
For late stage products work with Commercial organization to establish launch requirements as well as Commercial demand
Collaborate with supply chain organization of the partners to ensure appropriate inventory levels of collaboration products
Determine demand and translate into supply requirements and develop production schedules for Drug Substance, Drug Product, and Packaging
Work with Pharmaceutical Development to set drug product and drug substance manufacturing requirements and timelines
Work with Packaging and Distribution team within PharmOps to Monitor schedule adherence of production schedules and make course corrections if needed
Implement reporting mechanisms and escalate supply issues appropriately
Create inventory and planning reports Prepare and manage budgets.
Develop supply strategies to maximize supply efficiency, minimize waste while identifying risk and develop risk mitigation plans
Identify organizational development opportunities and analysis tools to improve control and planning of multiple product inventories across the globe
Manage a dynamic environment, creating options and strategies to meet needs and/or schedules as they evolve

Uses project management skills to drive programs and projects within Supply Chain, internal/external stakeholders, and other functions. Determines deliverables, milestones, and timeline goals. Takes accountability over tasks, pushes team members to achieve goals, and escalates as required. Acts as sponsor and mentor on projects lead by more junior team members
Determines strategic direction for team and aligns team strategy to function and company strategy
PC proficiency required; MSOffice skills (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Working knowledge of ERP/MRP, IRT, and Planning applications (ASCP, ClinAPPs)

REQUIREMENTS
Education
Advance degree in related science area, business, logistics or project management preferred
Experience
10+ years experience working in a Clinical/Commercial supply chain at a biopharmaceutical company
5+ years people management experience
Significant portion of the responsibilities will be initially related to clinical supply chain, therefore working knowledge of packaging, distribution management and IVRS/IWRS (IRT) for global clinical studies including cold chain management is preferred
Experience with MRP systems, S&OP processes and other supply management tools.
Working knowledge of international clinical cGMP, GDP and GCP requirements
TRAVEL, PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
Regularly required to operate standard office equipment (personal computer, photocopy machine, etc.)
Ability to work on a computer for extended periods of time
Regularly required to sit for long periods of time, and occasionally stand and walk
