UNICEF calls for outsourcing as poor transport of vaccines costs children’s lives

Poor storage and distribution of vaccines costs hundreds of thousands of children’s lives every year – and wasted $52m in resources last year in Nigeria alone – UNICEF has reported.
The international children’s charity is now calling for more delivery outsourcing to 3PLs in a bid to reduce the tragic tally.
UNICEF procures all Nigeria’s vaccines, which last year amounted to 68 million temperature-sensitive doses, Michelle Arnot-Kruger, its cold chain and logistics manager, told the Cold Chain Distribution conference in London yesterday.
